Many Piedmont Triad cities and towns have vacant, boarded-up factories and mills that negatively affect nearby homes and neighborhoods. Most older factories are not suitable for modern manufacturing, but could be reused adaptively for housing and other uses that would contribute positively to the community. What should the Piedmont Triad region and its communities do to encourage housing in and around these redevelopment opportunities?
