Regional Cooperation Is Killing Greensboro

I know people don't like to hear it but when you talk about regional cooperation the local economic development "gurus" and other cronies take it as a license to steal.

Currently, regional cooperation is being used as an excuse to build megasites (2000 acre industrial parks) in rural areas 20 to 30 miles away from our major population centers like Greensboro and yet Greensboro is being asked to spend almost $100 million dollars on these various projects when in fact Greensboro already has thousands of acres of empty industrial properties.

Currently there are 12 empty megasites in North Carolina-- all taxpayer funded. Davidson County is building one. With the help of Greensboro, Randolph County hopes to build one. Project Haystack is being planned on the Alamance/Guilford County lines between Gibsonville, Elon and Burlington with Greensboro footing the bill for an industrial park 20 miles away from Greensboro at its closest point.
