Increase and maintain a variety of vegetation. On a residential plot having reliable trees (i.e. NOT Bradford Pear) that have been pruned as they mature for safety provides shade and protection from heavier winds and rains we can expect to see. In commercial areas having understory trees can provide a cooling effect for the buildings and the parking lots.
